All 24 aspirants seeking seats in the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Ebonyi State House of Assembly have expressed satisfaction with the screening process and optimism about securing victory in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking after the screening exercise, the Speaker of the current Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa, who is seeking a third term in office, commended the screening committee for its diligence and professionalism in conducting what he described as a thorough and hitch-free exercise.
He expressed confidence in returning victorious at the polls, describing himself as a grassroots politician who, through effective legislation and oversight functions, has made an indelible impact in his constituency and beyond.
“As a representative of my constituency, I remain close to my people, understand their needs, and work hard to deliver on their expectations,” he said.
Chairman of the Ebonyi State Screening Committee, Barr. Valentine Akwuba, said all 24 aspirants screened were duly cleared and found qualified to contest in the forthcoming elections.
According to him, the 6-man committee ensured a transparent process by scrutinizing the aspirants’ educational qualifications, professional credentials, party membership status, and other requirements as stipulated by the party’s national secretariat. Among those screened were Speaker Rt. Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa, Deputy Speaker Hon. Chinedu Onah, alongside other serving and prospective lawmakers.
