Alhaji Bamanga Tukur
By Prince Uche Secondus
It is with a profound sense of loss and deep national sorrow that I learned of the transition of our elder statesman, former National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and former Governor of old Gongola State, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, CON..
Alhaji Bamanga Tukur was a colossus in Nigeria’s political and economic landscape. As a predecessor in the office of PDP National Chairman, he brought to the leadership of our party a rare blend of administrative finesse, deep political wisdom, and an unwavering commitment to internal democracy and national cohesion. His stewardship at the helm of the PDP remained a reference point for disciplined leadership and ideological fidelity.
Beyond political party administration, his contributions as an executive governor, a former Minister of Industries, and a prominent industrialist shaped the socio-economic foundation of our country. His vision as Executive President of the African Business Roundtable (ABR) and Chairman of the NEPAD Business Group elevated Nigeria’s standing across the African continent and the global economic arena.
To those of us who had the privilege of serving alongside and after him in political stewardship, he was a father figure, a dependable mentor, and an unyielding pillar of support during complex national moments. His wise counsel and commitment to democratic governance served as a guiding light.
On behalf of my family and political associates, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Tukur family, the government and people of Adamawa State, and the entire political family across Nigeria.
We pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings, accepts his good deeds, and grants him Al-Jannah Firdaus. May Allah also grant his immediate family and all of us the fortitude to bear this monumental loss.
Adieu, Leader. Rest in eternal peace.
