The Enugu State Sports Council has said that they have planned to commence the screening of footballers for the football event of the National Sports Festival tagged: “Coal City Games 2026.’
This is contained in a statement issued by Boniface Onovo, the Consultant to the council for the games. According to Onovo, the Coal City Games are scheduled to kick off from November 27 to December 11, 2026, at various centers in Enugu metropolis.
Onovo said the venue for the screening exercise would take place at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus Stadium (UNEC Stadium), Enugu beginning from Wednesday, September 16 to Friday, September 19. According to him, the exercise will take place at 3:00 pm daily, adding that experienced professional footballers will be on hand to drill the players.
The statement advised Interested football players to turn up for the exercise. Onovo said that Enugu State was poised to host the festival after putting in much effort to host it.
