At exactly 11:47p.m. when the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) updated their Twitter handle on Tuesday June 2, Nigeria has yet again recorded 241 new cases of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) across various states of the country, just as the World health Organisation (WHO) said Nigeria now holds the sad record as the second-highest positive record in Africa. The other two countries are South Africa and Algeria.
The NCDC said that 142 new cases were recorded in Lagos, 15 cases in Oyo State, 13 cases in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, 12 cases in Kano State, 11 cases in Edo State and ten cases in Delta State, among others. With the new additions, the NCDC said 10819 persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in Nigeria with 3239 patients discharged and 314 deaths recorded. A breakdown of the 241 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded as follows:
