The Enugu State Police Command said its operatives have arrested a 28-year-old male suspect, Michael Ayisa, for allegedly robbing a female Point-of-Sale (POS) operator of ₦200,000 at gunpoint and recovered a pistol and an expended 9mm ammunition shell.
In a press release issued by the state police spokesman SP Daniel Ndukwe, the Command said that on 18 October 2026, at about 12:26 p.m., Police Operatives attached to Udenu Division, supported by members of the Neighbourhood Watch Group, arrested the suspect at Obollo-Afor, Udenu LGA, following a report that he had robbed the victim at her shop along Old Orba Road, Uhulor, Obollo-Afor in Udenu LGA, on 17 October 2026, at about 9:00 a.m.
According to the spokesman, “Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim raised the alarm as the suspect fled, allegedly threatening to shoot anyone pursuing him. A Beretta-like pistol and an expended 9mm ammunition shell were recovered from him. The suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation.
The suspect will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigations, Ndukwe said in the press release. Meanwhile, Ndukwe said that the Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, “commends the operatives for the successful operation and acknowledges the complementary support provided by the Neighbourhood Watch Group.”
“He reiterates the Command’s commitment to combating crime and urges residents to promptly report suspicious activities to the police and other recognised security agencies.”
