Following the recent attacks on the governorship hopeful in Anambra State and the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the police in Anambra State have arrested four more suspects in connection with the attack. The police had earlier in a statement said one suspect was tracked and arrested through a telephone picked at the scene of crime.
Recall that Prof. Soludo was attacked on Wednesday in his Isuofia hometown in the Aguata Local Government Area of the state during a meeting with youths of the area. His three police orderlies were killed in the attack. The State Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, in a statement on Thursday said four more suspects had been arrested.
The PPRO said, “Police operatives attached to Anambra State Command today April 1, 2021 have arrested four additional suspects in connection to the recent attack and gruesome murder of three policemen at Isuofia Civic Centre in Aguata LGA of Anambra State. The suspects are: Mbah Victor,30, John Olisakwe, 21, Chigozie Omeh, 20, and Emmanuel Nnobi, 28.
He added, “The suspects confessed to have actively taken part in the attack and subsequent abduction of the Commissioner for Public and Utilities, Emeka Ezenwanne, which the Command is working assiduously to rescue. Consequently, efforts is still on going to apprehend other fleeing accomplices, unravel the circumstances surrounding the incidence and bring perpetrators to book.”
