It was a moment of tributes, lamentation, and prayers as family members, journalists, community leaders, and sympathisers gathered in Arochukwu to say goodbye to the late online journalist and publisher of “Jungle Journalist”, Mazi Onukwube ThankGod Ofoelue, whose remains were interred in Mother Earth on Saturday May 9, 2026.

NewsBits recalls that ThankGod Ofoelue, the Founder/CEO of Jungle Journalist Media Limited, an Online media platform, died in the evening of Monday, February 23, 2026, following a brief illness. He passed away at the age of 48, with the news of his death heavily reported by the online media community in Nigeria on February 24, 2026.

Addressing the gathering during the funeral service, Resident Preacher and Arochukwu Branch President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Enyinnaya Okoroafor, described death as a transition back to the Creator. He expressed confidence that the late ThankGod would find peace in eternity because of the life he lived.

Okoroafor said that death simply “means returning home,” and advised the bereaved family to take heart despite the painful and irreplaceable loss. He said further that mankind had been given the freedom to choose between good and evil, emphasising that those who choose righteousness would reunite with God.

According to him, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ had conquered death, which, he described as only a temporary separation from the physical body. Also speaking, though on behalf of the Ofoelue family, Mazi Okoronkwo Hyacinth Ofoelue described ThankGod as “exceptionally brilliant and intelligent from childhood,” and prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul.
