The abused child, Oluebube

Again, the Anambra State Police Command said its operatives have arrested a 32- year-old woman, Mrs Ogechi Ofoma, for allegedly subjecting her seven-year-old daughter, Oluebube Ofoma, to severe physical abuse, including using a hot knife to inflict injuries on her body.
NewsBits recalls that this development comes a few days after the operatives of the State Command at Onitsha had tracked and picked up a housewife who purportedly abused her biological 8-year-old daughter sexually with sex toys before posting to a white man on the Internet to earn $700.
While strongly condemning the latest wicked act in Obodo, the Command said, “Prompt intervention of security personnel from the Ibollo Community, Awada-Obosi, and concerned residents led to the child’s rescue and the arrest of her mother, Mrs. Ogechi Ofoma, 32”.
A press release issued on Monday by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, showed that “Preliminary information indicates that the child was allegedly subjected to severe physical abuse, including injuries reportedly inflicted with a hot knife”.
Ikenga said the State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna, collaborated with the Commissioner for Women Affairs to secure urgent medical care and protection for the victim.
According to the PPRO, “The Anambra State Police Command has strongly condemned the alleged brutal abuse of a 7-year-old girl in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area, and has reaffirmed its resolve to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.”
“The Command received a report in the evening of 13 September 2026 concerning alleged child abuse and severe bodily injuries involving Oluebube Ofoma, aged seven.”
He also said that the CP “has commenced collaboration with the Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare to ensure that the victim receives urgent and appropriate medical care, protection, and all necessary welfare support.
The Command commends the vigilance, courage, and public-spirited intervention of the Ibollo Community security personnel and residents whose swift action helped save the child from further harm and enabled the immediate commencement of police action.”
He assured the public that the investigation “will be thorough, professional, and uncompromising,” adding that the “welfare, safety, and best interests of the child remain paramount, and the Command will continue to work with relevant agencies to protect vulnerable persons and ensure accountability in accordance with the law.”
