A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State, Leloonu Nwibubasa, says the people of the state have rejected the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Nwibubasa stated this on Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television, a day after Wike and his supporters met with Governor Sim Fubara. According to him, the minister is begging for help after he allegedly treated Fubara badly by denying him a second-term bid.
“Rivers people have rejected Wike by virtue of the fact that he troubled the political and economic landscape of the state throughout these three years of Governor Fubara’s reign, and that’s why he’s seeking help.
“Wike is quite streetwise when it comes to politics. He understands that this is the time to begin to seek alliances and collaboration. But, unfortunately, he’s doing it late. How do you seek an alliance with a governor that you denied a ticket? You forced him to withdraw from a governorship contest.
“How do you seek an alliance with a governor that you denied all of his members? None of his supporters had a ticket to the House of Assembly. None of his supporters had a ticket to the House of Representatives’ 13 seats, and none of his supporters was nominated to run for the Senate. How do you reconcile and form an alliance with such a person?” he asked.
