The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Ahmed Ammani has assured the people and residents of the state of the command’s preparedness to confront non-state actors who are hell-bent on enforcing the illegal Monday sit-at-home order in the state.
CP Ahmed made this known during a town-hall meeting convened by the Enugu State government on the cancellation of the Monday sit-at-home in the state, at the Old Government Lodge. Enugu, on Saturday.
The town-hall meeting had in attendance, traditional rulers in the state, heads of security forces, religious leaders, representatives of market, transport and student unions, the organised labour, civil society organisations, NGOs, business, and media communities, amongst others.
The police commissioner maintained that with the cooperation of relevant security agencies, as well as members of the public, there will be adequate security measures for the people to go about their lawful activities on Mondays.

He further called on parents to admonish their children against being used as a tool to constitute nuisance in the society, as security operatives will not tolerate any threats to the peaceful co-existence of the members of the society or preventing them from engaging in their normal activities.
“We are well prepared for the task ahead. The Nigerian Police Force and other relevant security agencies in the state have agreed to do everything within their capacity to give adequate protection to the people of Enugu State and shall deal ruthlessly with anyone who is caught threatening the peace of the state in the name of enforcing the illegal sit-at-home order.
“We, therefore, call on parents to caution their children and loved ones against being used as a tool to distort the peace of the state, as we are ready to sting”, the Commissioner vowed.
Recall that the Enugu State government had recently cancelled the sit-at-home order in the state, urging the people to come out en masse on Mondays and go about their normal activities.
