Miyetti Allah President Bello Bodejo

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have reportedly arrested Bello Bodejo in Jalingo, Taraba State, shortly after he declared his intention to contest for the Taraba Central Senatorial seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to reports, Bodejo arrived in Jalingo on Thursday aboard a private jet and was received by supporters from across the five local government areas of the senatorial district. He was later said to have visited some security agencies’ offices alongside political associates before being detained by DSS operatives.

A close aide to the Miyetti Allah leader, identified simply as Umar, claimed the arrest occurred shortly after Bodejo addressed supporters at the APC state secretariat in Jalingo. According to him, security personnel ordered those accompanying Bodejo to leave the premises before taking him into custody.

The aide also alleged that the same security operatives who escorted Bodejo from Abuja to Jalingo were involved in the arrest. As of the time of filing this report, authorities had not officially disclosed the reason for the arrest or Bodejo’s whereabouts.

Before his arrest, Bodejo had publicly declared that he had purchased the APC senatorial nomination form and would not withdraw from the race for any aspirant. He also claimed that a consensus committee reportedly set up by Agbu Kefas to engage aspirants across the state’s senatorial zones had not contacted him.

Bodejo stated that he remained determined to pursue his ambition despite alleged pressure from political interests. The latest development comes more than a year after the Miyetti Allah president was arrested by DSS operatives in Nasarawa State over allegations linked to the creation of a vigilante group.

It remains unclear whether the current arrest is related to political activities surrounding the Taraba senatorial race or an ongoing security investigation.
