The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rolled out its official timetable and activity schedule for the 2027 general elections, outlining a series of internal processes leading up to party primaries in May 2026.
The document, endorsed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, details timelines for the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms, screening of aspirants, announcement of results, appeal windows, and the conduct of primaries for all elective offices.
The party explained that the timetable aligns with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), the Electoral Act 2026, and the schedule released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2027 polls.
According to the APC, releasing the timetable reflects its intention to conduct credible and transparent primaries while reinforcing internal democracy ahead of the elections.
“In accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), the Electoral Act 2026, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Revised Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) hereby releases its Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the Elections,” the party stated.
Activities begin with formal notification to state chapters and the start of form sales at the APC national secretariat on Monday, April 20. The sale of forms will take place from April 25 to May 2, while submission of completed forms closes on May 4.
Screening of aspirants is scheduled in phases between May 6 and May 8 for legislative and governorship hopefuls, while presidential aspirants will be screened on May 9. Results of the screening exercise are expected on May 11, after which appeals will be entertained on May 12 and 13.
The party fixed its presidential primary for May 15 and 16. This will be followed by the House of Representatives primary on May 18, the Senate on May 20, State Houses of Assembly between May 21 and 22, and the governorship primary on May 23.
Appeals arising from the primaries will also be handled in stages, beginning with presidential appeals on May 18 and concluding with gubernatorial appeals on May 25.
The APC also outlined the cost of forms for aspirants. State assembly hopefuls are to pay N1 million for the expression of interest and N5 million for nomination forms. House of Representatives aspirants will pay N1 million and N9 million, respectively, while senatorial aspirants are to pay N3 million and N17 million.
Governorship aspirants will pay N10 million for expression of interest and N40 million for nomination forms, while presidential aspirants are expected to pay N30 million and N70 million, respectively.
However, the party noted that women, youths, and persons with disabilities will enjoy a concession, paying only for expression-of-interest forms and half of the nomination fees. On the broader election timeline, INEC scheduled presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027, while governorship and state assembly elections will take place on February 6, 2027.
Political parties are expected to conduct their primaries between April 23 and May 30, including the resolution of disputes. Campaigns for presidential and National Assembly elections will begin on August 19, while governorship and state assembly campaigns will commence on September 9, with all campaigns ending 24 hours before election day.
